TRUTHFULNESS SCALES

All BDS tests, including those available on our internet testing platform (Online-Testing), have built-in Truthfulness Scales that determine the respondent's truthfulness while completing the test. Client truthfulness has been linked to accurate assessment and positive treatment outcome. Without a Truthfulness Scale, how do you know if the person you tested was truthful?

Client (patient or offender) truthfulness has been associated with more positive treatment outcomes (Simpson. 2004). Problem minimization has been linked to lack of treatment progress (Murphy & Baxter, 1997), and treatment dropout (Daly & Pelowski, 2000; Evans, Libo & Hier, 2009); and offender recidivism (Nunes, Hanson, Firestone, Moulden, Greenberg & Bradford, 2007). Each Behavior Data Systems (BDS) assessment instrument or test has its own evidence based Truthfulness Scale.

Introduction Most behavior Data Systems (BDS) tests can be used in several assessment settings. For conciseness, tests are listed under one or two functional groups even though they may be used in several assessment settings.

TREATMENT EFFECTIVENESS TESTS

TREATMENT EFFECTIVENESS TESTS

In the past, patients and offenders that were referred for treatment, and completed it, were assumed to having been rehabilitated, cured or positively changed by virtue of having completed their assigned class, counseling, or treatment. Research has shown (Lipsey, 1999; Eckhardt, 2004; Mechanic, et al, 2000; and Brome, et. al. 2007) that this is not necessarily the case. Some patients/offenders do not benefit from counseling or treatment. This is why "treatment effectiveness" or "outcome" tests were developed. Four treatment effectiveness tests include: 1. Pre-Post Inventory, 2. DVI Pre-Post, 3. Probation Referral Outcome, and 4. Juvenile Pre-Post. Each of these tests have their own website and set forth their Comparison Report. A CAVEAT

Some testing companies employ á la carte billing which can be deceptive. In these instances a test's cost is kept deceptively low. Then, when test updation, research, accountability and support services are added, they have a separate cost. These "low cost" tests are then much more expensive than originally quoted. Another stratagem for keeping tests costs low (or free) is not providing any test-related services (e.g., no accountability, research, upgrades, no support services and not meeting psychometric standards). In contrast, BDS and its subsidiaries charge one low and all-inclusive test fee of $9.95 per test.
